China Southern expanding to Brisbane, adding Cairns
China Southern Airlines will launch a service to Cairns and increase its flights to Brisbane continuing their dramatic expansion of services to Australia.
The airline will bring up to 800 passengers to Cairns a week, prompting what leaders in the area believe will be a “tourism renaissance,” The Cairns Post reports.
“The enormity of this is something we will have never seen before,” Cairns Mayor and former airport boss Bob Manning said.
“You can’t help but think that we could be seeing a resurgence in tourism and business that replicates what happened when Japan carriers began coming here.
“But in the case of the Chinese, it will be much bigger. This is going to really blossom.”
China Southern also announced that it will boost services between Brisbane and its base in Guangzhou, China’s third-largest city, from four to seven a week.

In other words, Mayor Banning, if you screw up, learn from it. Cairns has opportunity here, don’t blow it away because in the past, Cairns has. Keep it real.

Man who fall in ditch should have gone over ditch.
Lets hope some of these Chinese pop over to NZ.
